We don’t do anything piecemeal here at Bala Baya London; with our restaurant space, we wanted to be as experimental and fearless as we are with our food.
You can’t fault our ambition; we decided to recreate a Bauhaus city in Central London, a mini-Middle East full of fun, food and drink, where the lively soundtrack will have you on your feet and dancing in no time.
Eran didn’t just want to open up another classy but sterile restaurant near Southwark station amid a sea of other fine-dining, stuffy, ultra-modern, tastefully decorated, dead-behind-the-eyes eateries, after all, who wants to be the same as everyone else?
Except for the tastefully decorated part.
His vision was to create a space that celebrates life, that lives and breathes as vibrantly as you do, as everyone does.

Inside the restaurant, marvel at the genuine piece of culture we have brought into the city, from the Terrazzo tiles, the exact replica Eran made of his dad’s pita oven, to the wine and our speciality, the Gazoz.

All of our meals are prepared with in-season vegetables, spices and fruits. From light bites to gut busting feasts we make sure to use the freshest ingredients to bring an authentic taste to your table.

Food that’s larger than life, an experience to share
We believe that food is meant to be shared, many of our dishes have been designed with this in mind. Small plates to pass around the table or platters to be shared and enjoyed over laughter and libation.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, we serve a selection of delectable desserts featuring sweet morello cherries, baharat cream and our signature burnt babka, made using grilled pistachio and tahini enriched dough.
And to wash it all down? Soft drinks, spirits, mouth-watering cocktails and the finest wines.
Saving the best for last, there is the Gazoz, ah the Gazoz, flowers, herbs, spices, nothing beats a refreshing Gazoz. Making Gazoz is an artform, one we have perfected – but we’ll let you be the judge of that.

Of course, you can stumble in whenever you want and we’ll do our best to accommodate you, but we advise booking ahead to make sure you don’t miss out.

We accept last bookings at
22:00 Monday to Thursday.
22:15 Friday and Saturday.
and 21:00 on Sunday.
We allow 15 minutes to take the last kitchen orders for these bookings. -
What is the nearest station?
Southwark Station is a brisk 3 minute walk away.
