Vegan and vegetarian dishes that stand out from the crowd
Are you wondering what to expect as a vegan or vegetarian entering the friendly and lively atmosphere that is Bala Baya? Well, we love to treat our vegan and vegetarian guests. Feast your eyes on dishes that are as visually enticing as they are delectable, and be surprised by flavours that tease your taste buds and produce involuntary moans of pleasure.
Our dishes are perfect for tearing and sharing – and you’ll be urging your nearest and dearest at the table with you: ‘you have to try this – it’s amazing’.
Unlike some vegan restaurants Central London has to offer, we create exquisite plant-based dishes using fresh, seasonal vegetables and spices, rather than offering you imitation burgers. Our flavour palate is one of rich, authentic Middle Eastern and Israeli foods – prepared by our very own co-founder and head chef Eran Tibi – an inimitable modern Israeli chef obsessed with bringing you a dining experience that goes far beyond merely amazing food.
Israeli vegan and vegetarian food in London
If you, or one of your party, is vegan or vegetarian and you’re wondering what you can eat at Bala Baya – don’t worry because we have a delicious selection of scrumptious delights for you.
Many Israeli dishes are naturally vegan or vegetarian and we have an entire menu especially devoted to plant-based foods that you will absolutely love. All our meals are prepared using fresh, in season vegetables, spices, and fruits. For light bites and starters try heavenly delights such as our harissa marinated mixed olives, crudites with a fiery tahini, or blackened aubergine with fresh pitas – an amazing dish made with pomegranate molasses and lychee.
We have a special vegetarian and vegan sharing menu which includes delectable treats such as a cauliflower steak crumble with pomegranate syrup, parsley and lime yoghurt. Or try our caramelised cabbage with stem ginger and red basil – utterly delicious.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, we have the mysterious and sexy Midnight Malabi – a tantalising combination of coconut, black tahini, morello cherry, vanilla, rose, white rum and a sesame brittle.
And, of course, we have a burnt babka that you will be dreaming about long after you’ve devoured it – a mouthwatering treat prepared with a grilled pistachio & tahini enriched dough, paired with a fresh blackberry compote and creme anglaise.
Our desserts are made to be shared and enjoyed together. If you want a dish to be made vegan, please speak to our staff who will be happy to help – we want you to be happy and to have a dining experience that you won’t forget. If you’re checking out vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Central London, give us a visit – you’ll be glad you did.
